Written by Anuj Prajapati

In the 2002 Godhra case, the Gujarat High Court has converted the execution of 11 convicts into life imprisonment. On February 27, 2002, the trial court had convicted 31 convicts on March 1, 2011, for the burning of the S-6 bogie of Sabarmati train.

It is noteworthy that riots broke out in Gujarat after blasting the S-6 of Sabarmati Express at Godhra station. According to reports, a total of 59 people were present in the fire brigade, which included car servants returning mostly from Ayodhya. More than 1 thousand people were killed in the riots.

Significantly, on Thursday, the Gujarat High Court has canceled the petition of Zakia Jafri, filed in the Gulberg Society case. Let me tell you that he had challenged the clean chit given in the Gulberg Society case. In the petition, Zakia had demanded that the charges against 59 people in the case of the Gujarat riots should be decided.

The court had said that the riots will not be investigated again and the court has canceled the charges of any big conspiracy in it. However, the Gujarat High Court had also told from Zakia that if they want, they can also go to the Supreme Court.
