River Ganga Named India’s First Living Entity

The mother of all river in India, The Ganga river known as ‘first living entity of India’. Uttarakhand High Court has declared Ganga as living entity. The river now can enjoy all rights of humans as per the Indian Constitution. Along with Ganga, Yamuna river can enjoy the same right.

The Ganga is also known for cultural & religious beliefs in the country. Apart from this River termed as a polluted river. It was ranked as the fifth most polluted river in the world in 2007. The Government of India launches some campaign like ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Namami Gange’ to maintain cleanliness in the river.

The Ganga river rises in the western Himalayas in the Indian State of Uttarakhand. The river stretches 2,525 km across many states in India. The most sacred river starts from the Uttarakhand state runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong in the Bangladesh country.
