Tata Motors has stopped production of its best-selling SUV Tata Sumo at one time. This car has been the pride of Tata for 25 years. But according to the fast changing trend, this car has become old and due to this the company has stopped its production. Tata Sumo production began in 1994. It is being told that in early 2019, the company stopped its production. However, no official statement has been revealed by Tata about the closure of Tata Sumo production. But this car has stopped appearing in the company’s dealerships.
There are many reasons to stop the production of this car. The first reason is that Tata Sumo does not meet the new AIS 145 safety norms, nor has the company made any updates to the car. Also, Tata Sumo has not met the BNVSAP (Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program) standards. Due to this, old vehicles like Maruti Omni and Gypsy have also had to be discontinued. Tata Sumo currently comes with BS-IV component and Tata is not going to update it to BS-VI either. Which means that the company will not continue this car.
Apart from this, Tata Sumo is also far behind in terms of technology and features compared to today’s modern vehicles. This is a big reason why this car could not attract new buyers. In the Tata Sumo you get a 3.0-liter diesel engine, which generates 85PS of power and 250Nm of torque.
