Habits that are causing you tooth decay

Written by Anuj Prajapati

Maintaining a proper oral hygiene is as important as taking care of your overall health. Most of us do not realize this and take things lightly. But ignoring dental care can cause serious damage to our teeth. Here are some habits that can lead to tooth decay.

Not visiting the dentist

To maintain proper oral care, it is a must to visit a dentist at least twice a year. You may be taking good care of your teeth and may use the best dental products, but make it a point to see a professional every six months. Not seeing a dentist frequently can cause many problems, and if neglected it can even lead to complications.

Forgoing flossing and brushing

Skipping those brushing and flossing sessions can lead to germ buildup. Ensure that you brush twice-a-day and floss your teeth at least once a day. Our mouth is full of bacteria all the time and if this bacteria sits on the teeth for a longer period, it can cause cavities, tartar deposits etc.

Don’t use your teeth as a tool

It is advisable to spend some extra time searching for tools, rather than using your teeth as one. It has been observed that most people use their teeth to bite nails and open bags and bottles without realizing its ill-effects. You need to understand that your teeth are not made of iron or steel.

Refrain from these bad habits and dazzle others with your pearly whites.
