Facebook’s owned biggest messaging app in the world WhatsApp will stop working on some smartphones after December 31. The company itself has confirmed this. Phones which do not work on WhatsApp will include ‘Blackberry OS’, ‘Blackberry 10’, ‘Windows Phone 8.0’ and older phones with older platforms.
The company has also stated that users using these platforms will not be able to create new accounts or re-verify the existing accounts. Whatsapp has already announced to close the resort on many older platforms. After the end of the report, Whatsapp will not offer any security updates and new features in the future.
However, Whatsapp will continue to support the version of Windows 8.1. Blackberry has already announced that they are not going to launch a new smartphone.
Blackberry 10 and Blackberry Operating Systems have already been discontinued. The phones coming from the name of the BlackBerry brand are now being manufactured by TCL, the company of China, where the Android operating system is being used.
Whatsapp said that We will not actively work on these platforms, so some features will stop working. WhatsApp has told the reason behind this. The company said that These platforms do not have the kind of capability that we need in the future to increase our app’s features.
Whatsapp said that if you are using a phone with such operating system, then we recommend that you upgrade. Apart from that, WhatsApp said that since December of 2018, it will not work on the ‘Nokia S40’ platform too. Also, on February 1, 2020, it will stop working on Android version 2.3.7 or older.
