Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi has become India’s number one handset brand in terms of smartphones and feature phones for the first time. Xiaomi has left the South Korean company Samsung intact for many years on this position. October-December IDC data of the market has revealed this and this is a big step for Xiaomi.
In the fourth and last quarter of last year, Xiaomi held the top position with 16 percent market share. The IDC report said that after this, Reliance Retail, which sells Samsung and JioPhone on the second position, is in the third position. This data includes the sale of both smartphones and feature phones in the market, while no feature phones have been launched by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi India Head and Global Vice President Manu Jain said that Xiaomi smartphones are enough to leave them behind even after combining the total sales of Samsung’s and Reliance Retail’s feature phones and smartphones. According to a recent Counterpoint report, China’s Xiaomi occupies the number-1 in India’s smartphone market. In 2019, Xiaomi’s market share stood at 28%.
